Jenn Curry Guth graduated from New York University (NYU) and jump-started her career as a Staff Occupational Therapist at Bellevue Hospital, one of the nation’s top trauma and psychiatric hospitals. While there she routinely assessed and treated a wide variety of conditions including tendon, nerve, spinal cord and orthopedic injuries; neurological disorders; a high percentage of severe trauma, amputations and gunshot wounds; and dual diagnosis psych patients with associated physical disabilities.

Returning to her home state of California, Jenn went to work for Kaiser Permanente, where she spent the next 10 years refining her OT skills. Jenn also put her knowledge and experience to work routinely teaching classes to patients on wrist fracture, arthritis, and overuse syndromes such as carpal tunnel and tendonitis, training new Fieldwork students, and developing programs for the outpatient department. Not satisfied to rest on her laurels, Jenn went after a certification in hand therapy, receiving her CHT in 2002.

In 2003, Jenn obtained certification as an Ergonomics Assessment Specialist and performed ergonomic evaluations focusing on work place safety and injury prevention, assessing workstations and teaching proper body mechanics. She went on to implement a comprehensive ergonomics program for the county of San Diego and used “Train the Trainer” classes to teach county employees to do their own 1:1 ergonomic assessments.

Jenn played a key role in the development and set-up of two clinics: a new occupational therapy outpatient clinic for US Healthworks of Carlsbad, CA and a hand program to service a five-clinic private physical therapy practice for Gaspar Doctors of Physical Therapy in Encinitas, CA. Deciding it was time to take the next step and set out on her own, Jenn opened GRASP Hand Therapy, Inc. in Carlsbad, CA in 2014. Here, situated in a professional building conveniently located only a few blocks off of Interstate 5, she plans to continue her 20 years of experience serving the doctors and patients of North County San Diego, CA.

In her spare time—having received her certification from the American Council on Exercise (Ace) in 2000—Jenn has put in time as a personal trainer, and is currently a Group Exercise Instructor, teaching spin classes three times a week at 24-hour Fitness in San Marcos, CA.
